چکیده

Two inversion formulas for enumerating words in the free monoid by θ-adjacencies are applied in counting pairs of permutations by various statistics. The generating functions obtained involve refinements of bibasic Bessel functions. We further extend the results to finite sequences of permutations. ∗This work is partially supported by EC grant CHRX-CT93-0400 and PRC Maths-Info †Financial support provided by LaBRI, Université Bordeaux I

Permutation tableaux and permutation patterns

Lauren Williams (joint work with Einar Steingrímsson) We introduce and study a class of tableaux which we call permutation tableaux; these tableaux are naturally in bijection with permutations, and they are a distinguished subset of the " Le-diagrams " of Alex Postnikov. The structure of these tableaux is in some ways more transparent than the structure of permutations; therefore we believe tha...

Counting Descent Pairs with Prescribed Colors in the Colored Permutation Groups

We define new statistics, (c, d)-descents, on the colored permutation groups Zr o Sn and compute the distribution of these statistics on the elements in these groups. We use some combinatorial approaches, recurrences, and generating functions manipulations to obtain our results.

Step-Down Multiple Comparison Procedures Using Medians and Permutation Tests

Richter and McCann (2007) presented a median-based multiple comparison procedure for assessing evidence of group location differences. The sampling distribution was based on the permutation distribution of the maximum median difference among all pairs, and provides strong control of the FWE. This idea is extended to develop a step-down procedure for comparing group locations. The new step-down ...

The False Discovery Rate in Simultaneous Fisher and Adjusted Permutation Hypothesis Testing on Microarray Data

Background and Objectives: In recent years, new technologies have led to produce a large amount of data and in the field of biology, microarray technology has also dramatically developed. Meanwhile, the Fisher test is used to compare the control group with two or more experimental groups and also to detect the differentially expressed genes. In this study, the false discovery rate was investiga...

Equidistribution of Descents, Adjacent Pairs, and Place-Value Pairs on Permutations

An (X, Y )-descent in a permutation is a pair of adjacent elements such that the first element is from X, the second element is from Y , and the first element is greater than the second one. An (X, Y )-adjacency in a permutation is a pair of adjacent elements such that the first one is from X and the second one is from Y . An (X, Y )place-value pair in a permutation is an element y in position ...
